ICHAD’s approach to research and policy advocacy is global in scope, with an aim to inform programs and interventions that support vulnerable children in diverse developing nations. ICHAD’s work has grown out of a strategic focus in southwestern Uganda, a region that has been particularly devastated by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Additionally, our Director has contributed to programs in several Sub-Saharan African countries as well as nations in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and South and North America. ICHAD’s two current RO1 studies in Uganda are informed by ten years of research in the Greater Masaka region of the country.
ICHAD is a Columbia University research center and is based at the School of Social Work in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City. ICHAD also maintains offices in Masaka and Kalisizo, Uganda in the Greater Masaka region of the country.
